本來放在門口的那堆暢銷書我一直都不太為意，但偏偏就在英文小說附近看到這本《歷史學家 (The Historian)》。看到書名跟封面時，完全沒有概念為什麼一本這樣講西洋史 (?!) 的書會放在當眼處… (笑) 但當翻到背面，並不是什麼內容簡介 / 得了什麼獎之類…而是一封奇奇怪怪署名為「我親愛而不幸的承繼人」書信… 好，再去翻翻第一章，讀上來反而感覺很好，關於一個當外交官的父親帶著獨生女的故事，背景充滿書卷氣的同時也有點像歐洲遊記，就敗了這本書回家。
